Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She was on the panel of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell first covered the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She covered a wide range of notable stories, including weapons control, the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips with President Reagan to meetings alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
